The annual outdoor extravaganza of music brought the curtain down on another highly successful year of music-making at LES. The largest crowd yet enjoyed three hours of entertainment from all of the ensembles from Fairfield and the senior schools.

Little Pigs
Year 6 put on a magnificent performance of 'Oink' by Craig Hawes in their annual drama production. Based on the classic tale of the 3 Little Pigs, this version included many twists and turns to keep the audience guessing all the way to the end. The boys' energetic singing and dancing made it a thoroughly enjoyable evening for all.

You want more…?
Oliver, running for four nights last week was an outstanding success. A mixed cast of LGS boys and LHS girls entertained a sell-out audience each night with a unique and well thought out interpretation of a well known story. The atmospheric set and lighting, utilising the space and layout of the theatre in a creative manner added enormously to the overall experience of what was an exciting and very entertaining show.

The inaugural "Senior Musicians' Dinner" was held recently to celebrate the contributions made by senior pupils to the Music School's activities during their time here. Good food, a cabaret and inspiring speeches made it a night to remember. Oom, pa, pa!
Here we go again! Another stunning production is underway in the Drama Studio to follow in the magnificent footsteps of Pillowman, Grimm's Tales, A Midsummer Night's Dream and many more. This time it is Oliver! A cast of approaching a hundred have been rehearsing for months, the scaffolding has arrived and the skeleton of another ambitious set is finally being assembled. The show will be on stage from Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th March and tickets will go on sale on February 8th – they are bound to snapped up very quickly, so get ready to buy! Watch this space for more, boy!!

Based in Tudor times, the idiotic English nobleman is seeking a new French bride for Henry VIII. A simple French maid misunderstands his terrible French, and believing herself to be the chosen one, she causes mayhem. Slapstick and farce, with a little French thrown in, entertained the pupils of Years 7 and 8.

Boogie Night
Year 8 boys attended a joint disco with the year 8 at girls at the High School on Friday 6th October. The event was held in the Fairfield Hall and profits from ticket sales and refreshments helped to raise just over £870 for Tsolo High School in the Eastern Cape of South Africa (the region where Nelson Mandela grew up).

Blake
Blake, the renowned quartet of four handsome young singers, attracted an eager audience of music lovers to their presentation in the LES Music School. The classical cross-over group talked about the music industry and their careers, before singing a selection of songs from their latest album.
