Fair fanfare 08.11.12

November 8th witnessed the now traditional opening of Loughborough Fair by the Loughborough Endowed Schools Fanfare Trumpeters.  After first introducing the mayoral party outside the Town Hall, the trumpeters then signalled the opening of town’s festivities on the steps of one of the waltzers.  The fair dates back to the 13th century when a charter was granted by King Henry III in 1221 for a market and fair to be held on August 1st and later, in 1228, when a further charter was granted for another three-day fair around November 1st.  As always the lads received a very well deserved round of applause for their efforts.
