Ben Dijkstra ran brilliantly to win the Senior boys title at the English Schools Championships in Norwich on Saturday 18th March. Over 300 boys participated in the race, each having qualified to represent their County. Never out of the leading bunch, Ben eased away in the last half mile to win comfortably by 10 seconds.
This is not the first time Ben has won a National schools cross-country title. In fact, he has won three of them before, as well as three titles on the athletics track in the summer.
The triathlon remains his main event, so to beat boys who specialise solely at cross country makes his achievement all the more remarkable.
Ollie Rouse also ran particularly well in the intermediate boys event, finishing in 17th position, not far from qualification for the England team. Again, over 350 boys participated in this race.
In total, the Loughborough Grammar School had 7 boys representing Leicestershire in the event.
