As if by magic, the weather relented for just long enough and the whole of LES was able to enjoy the spectacle of the Olympic Flame being carried through Loughborough without getting wet.
Boys from LGS were entertained by acrobats, stilt-walkers and even high-fiving police motorcyclists as they awaited the arrival of the flame. Suitably armed with inflatable “things” they gave the flame-carrier a rousing welcome as he ran along Baxter Gate.
Meanwhile various LES choirs, the Little Big Band and the Swing Band entertained the huge crowd in the Market Square for well over 90 minutes and received very well-deserved acclaim. Their combined efforts in leading the crowd in the specially written “Lift the Flame on High” as the flame passed through the Market Square was something for everyone to remember with great pride. Well done everyone!
