Throughout the year boys from Years 12 and 13 visit local residents and help them with tasks that they may find difficult and every June an outing is arranged for both them on Field Day. Previous destinations have included Newstead Abbey, Rockingham Castle and The National Memorial Arboretum and this year it was the turn of the Royal Crown Derby Factory.
Twenty five local residents, five boys and three members of staff enjoyed a fascinating tour of the factory, followed by a buffet lunch, presented of course on Crown Derby crockery. The tour opened everyone’s eyes to the skills of the workforce and the level of detail that goes into every piece of Crown Derby: a combination of techniques old and new, are employed with mind-boggling precision to achieve perfection. It was an excellent day, enjoyed by all. Where to next year?
