On Saturday 22nd June, Josh Matthews and Cameron Sim from Year 12 represented Loughborough Grammar School Combine Cadet Force in support of the Leicester Armed Forces Day Service and Parade.
Josh and the CCF Standard formed part of the Guard of Honour before the service in Leicester Cathedral – a service attended by the Lord-Lieutenant of the County (Jennifer, Lady Gretton, JP) the Bishop of Leicester, councillors, other VIPs, serving personnel, veterans and members of the Reserves and Cadet Forces – and afterwards joined the other representative standards and service units as they marched round the centre of the city to the cheers and applause of hundreds of onlookers.
The Leicester Armed Forces Day was held on 22nd June so that it did not clash with the National Armed Forces Day which is taking place on 29th June in Nottingham. The LGS CCF Gun Run display is scheduled to be part of the National Day’s entertainment on the Victoria Embankment and the school is both privileged and proud to be taking part in such a prestigious event. A report on this event will appear shortly.
Josh and Cameron were equally privileged and proud to take part in Leicester’s tribute to the nation’s Armed Forces.
