Swallows & Amazons 16.06.17

This week boys in Years 7 – 9 have been having a fantastic time performing in the Lower School Production of Swallows & Amazons. Based on the much loved book by Arthur Ransome, Swallows & Amazons is an action packed musical adventure for the whole family. A story of an idyllic era, of endless summer evenings and the beauty of youthful imagination!

Audiences followed Captain John and his able crew as they set sail to Wildcat Island on an exotic adventure to encounter savages, capture dastardly pirates and defeat mortal enemies.

Students performed in a matinee performance to local Primary Schools on Thursday 15th June whom thoroughly enjoyed the performance and on the evening of Thursday 15th June and Friday 16th June to a full house of friends and family.

We have had lots of lovely feedback from staff and parents alike who have commented on the outstanding performances by all boys involved. Audiences enjoyed a hilarious performance by Archie Ingram (Year 7) as Roger, the youngest and most excitable of the Swallows. Benjamin Dalrymple (Year 8) played a fantastic John, Captain of the Ship Swallow and James Tallett (Year 8) scared audiences with his angry Mr Turner. Sam Oram’s miserable Mr Jackson and Police Officer provided excellent comic relief and Shivam Ruperelia sang fantastically well as a pilfering pirate. Jack Hutchinson and Rupert Alexander brought joy and fun to the chorus and played a number of roles from a cormorant to a houseboat.

A big well done to everyone involved in the production, the commitment and energy that they brought to the performances were fantastic.
