6 teams from Loughborough Grammar School travelled to The Royal Society in London. We had a finalist team in the Health; Energy; Design & Construction; Manufacturing; Best Innovation Prototype and Best Research Category. This is a National competition and teams had travelled from all over including Aberdeen and Northern Ireland to compete at the finals. The boys all agreed there were some very VERY impressive projects there on Monday and to have won 2 categories was a HUGE achievement!
Our Health Category finalist Team – Medivest (David Bernstein; Sankha K.Gamage Hari Jethwa) won for their “vest with tech to monitor a person’s heart rate, body temperature, and blood pressure linked to an app” innovation and the “Best Research Project” BIOSENSE (Sai Kotecha) won for his project “A research project investigating the detection of glucose in urine of type 1 diabetic patients who have not yet been diagnosed with diabetes through a domestic appliance”.
Additional to our success 3 teams from Loughborough High School also travelled with us to The Royal Society in London. Manufacturing Category finalist Team – STEERCLEAR (Chloe Allcock; Lini Gunendrani & Ashley Hawthorne) won for their “steering wheel adaptation to make driving a more enjoyable experience whilst making it safer and more interesting to drive.“
So 3 LES teams will travel to Buckingham Palace for the award ceremony with HRH Duke of York!
