Somewhere in the fog on a cold and damp Saturday morning a try is scored and the final game of the now annual charity rugby event in aid of the Matt Hampson Foundation comes to a close. Teams representing each Tutor Group in Years 7 and 9 fought it out to become champions of this eagerly awaited tournament. The winners were: 7NBK and 9EOL, but wait a minute – who is LGS’s rugby coach and who refereed some of the Year 9 matches?! A huge “thank you” must go the boys, of course, but also to the Form Tutors, the referees and the parents who so admirably supported the event. But, and I am sure I am not alone in this, I would personally like to thank the ladies from the refectory for their wonderful hot dogs and hot chocolate, so welcome on a cold and foggy morning in Quorn – though there was none of it in the food – Quorn, I mean! The total raised on Saturday for the Matt Hampson Foundation is £751 – funds came from players participation fee of £2, refreshments profit and a very successful raffle.
