Our pupils begin with a distinct advantage – they are taught by chemists. Not only do they benefit from having their questions answered with clarity, those same enquiries become new starting points for spontaneous explorations of chemical ideas.

Chemistry is a practical subject and pupils undertake their own experimental work. This inspires them to develop a deeper understanding of the subject whilst their practical skills are naturally developed. With our comprehensive technical support and excellent resources, this 'hands on' approach enables everyone to handle chemicals and apparatus safely and efficiently.

Unlike many schools our pupils obtain a GCSE in Chemistry, rather than the less demanding 'Science'. This gives them the opportunity to acquire a more thorough understanding and a deeper knowledge base, providing yet another advantage should they wish to continue the subject at Advanced Level.

You will see that even though our GCSE pupils follow the more advanced course, they still achieve excellent grades. Our A Level results continue to be outstanding and in recent years several Loughborough students have gone on to Oxford and Cambridge to study Chemistry, Natural Sciences and Medicine.
