Engineering Opportunities

Here is an exciting new opportunity for a limited number of exceedingly bright Advanced Level students who are interested in a career in Engineering – whether Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical or Civil. To pursue any of these careers – and to qualify for this opportunity – such a student would be expected to be taking both Physics and Mathematics at A Level and would benefit from taking Further Maths because the best university degree courses are highly prized and therefore competitive.

Our Engineering Education Scheme is offered to just four Lower Sixth Formers who are selected by interview. From October until March of that year, the team will work on a real engineering project with an industrial partner. At the end of the year, the students can then apply to visit a university engineering department for four days in June or July to experience first-hand the life of an engineering student.

This is the Headstart Programme. In the spirit of a Brunel masterpiece it offers a magnificent bridge between estimable schoolwork, the industry itself and life as an undergraduate.
