Geography

Geography is concerned with a wide range of issues which have immediacy and relevance to many problems facing the 21st century. Consequently, career opportunities are likely to increase in fields such as planning, transport and conservation whilst there are a vast range of substantial prospects in many other related fields.

With a suite of six classrooms dedicated to Geography and a staff of six full-time and three part-time teachers, this is a successful and vibrant department. Each of our classrooms is fully equipped with the latest ICT equipment including computers, projectors, smart boards and DVD/video players for our extensive library.

All boys study Geography for their first three years and we are proud of our excellent examination results at all levels. This success is reflected in the high number of pupils who regularly decide to continue studying our subject. We believe this is because we make Geography exciting and place emphasis on the development of enquiring minds as we examine diverse cultures around the world.

Field work and course work play a vital part in our curriculum and each pupil is annually involved in at least one of our wide array of activities. In fact, this is such a diversely exciting and busy department that those who have a special interest in the subject are advised to explore our web page in LGS Today and discover for themselves.

In a world of increasing specialisation, a training in a subject that embraces both the arts and sciences and often seeks to identify links between these disciplines, is both rewarding and extremely valuable.
