Clubs & Societies

As every boy is encouraged to play as hard as he works it is no surprise that we have an enormous amount of Clubs and Societies. We pride ourselves on developing the whole person and these extra-curricular activities play an important part in school life, both at lunchtimes and in the evenings. Some have obvious academic links whilst many others exist purely for fun and entertainment.

On the more serious side, there are Debating Societies for each level of the school beginning in Year 7. Pupils have the chance to polish their public speaking skills every week in debates on a range of topics chosen by the members. Or our Drama Clubs in which Senior boys explore opportunities to act or direct and Juniors enjoy workshop sessions that develop their imaginative, creative and dramatic talents. Our School Magazine is run by pupils from Years 11 – 13 who meet once a week and produce two or three editions annually, all written, edited, illustrated and designed by the boys themselves. Elsewhere there are the Arts Club, Ceramics Club, the Opium Club and even a Junior Creative Writing Club where boys from Years 7 – 8 meet weekly to read and discuss each others stories and poems.

There are endless Games Clubs, all taken extremely seriously by the members. Magic, Model Cars, Robots and Warhammer are all particularly popular and provide evidence that all our boys are offered plenty of opportunity to play – of which they take full advantage.
