Scouts
The old campfire is still burning bright at Loughborough. Indeed, we have a thriving Scout troop which meets once per week after school in our excellent purpose-built Centre within the campus. Following the Scout Association programme, all our activities are intended to be both stimulating and enjoyable. Boys learn to work both as individuals and as part of a team, developing skills in a wide variety of activities. In this way, training in both leadership and service are integrated. Whether it is pioneering, orienteering or cooking competitions, our troop is continually active and creative.
Individual awards and badgework continue to motivate everyone and most of our boys who are yet to learn attain their first 'Swimming Badge' at Loughborough. At a higher level we recently had a boy winning his Chief Scout's Gold award – the first ever from the Loughborough District. All activity decisions are taken by the boys themselves at a forum held at the start of every term. And of course, we traditionally hold camps, several every year.
Inspired by strong leadership together with excellent support from volunteers, our Scout troop is a fine example of those ideals handed down by Baden-Powell, now translated for healthy youngsters living in a modern world.
