School Trips
Any single year at Loughborough can often sound like the Great Age of Discovery. Nowadays we rarely set sail but an abundance of different groups head off on trips by road and air to locations in the British Isles, Europe and further afield. The only way to illuminate the sheer breadth of these expeditions is to take one recent year and use it as an example.
Classicists from Loughborough and the High School spent four days touring Hadrian's Wall: French and German students were involved in exchange trips to their respective study countries: Geographers went on a Field Course to North Yorkshire: A large group took off for Morocco to climb the highest peak in North Africa and donate equipment and clothes to a small village in the foothills: The Junior Skiing trip travelled to San Francisco before going on to the Heavenly resort in Nevada: An expedition coached to Paris, took in the sights and then travelled on to Brittany where they holidayed and improved their French: Juniors from Year 6 went on their annual Residential trip to Scarborough and separately learned about Robin Hood on a visit to Sherwood Forest: Meanwhile a group of Year 7s holidayed in Whitby: A large group of Loughborough musicians rehearsed and entertained the locals on their Cyprus tour: Whilst winners of our 'Johnnie' Johnson Travel prizes enjoyed experiences in Switzerland and Greece.
There were other trips that year but it's a familiar tale. Loughborough boys have plentiful opportunity to discover the benefits of travel as a life-enhancing experience.
