Boarding

Boarders are a positive and beneficial feature at Loughborough. We are a school of around a thousand pupils and having 50 boarders provides the campus with a constant and vibrant heartbeat throughout term time. This creates a warm family atmosphere which is especially conspicuous during the many after-school activities that are so popular.

There are two separate and well appointed boarding houses, Denton House for Juniors (10 – 13 years) takes up to 18 boarders and School House for Seniors has room for over 30. Both houses are in the heart of the campus and each is lived in by a senior married Housemaster and his family. In Years 10 and 11 boys share large rooms, lower Sixth Formers occupy twin rooms and members of the Upper Sixth enjoy a room to themselves. Main meals are taken in the School dining hall, however each house has its own kitchen where boarders can make themselves snacks and drinks. The houses are also networked to the School computer system enabling the boys to access work areas, use email to keep in touch with their family and to obtain supervised access to the Internet.

Full and weekly boarding is available and there are many activities offered to boarders such as trips to the theatre, cinema, paintballing, use of the sports hall, swimming pool etc. In addition to the mid-term breaks, there are two full weekend exeats per term when boys go home to their families or stay with their appointed guardians.

Boarding at Loughborough is a happy and successful option. If you are considering it we would welcome you to come and see for yourself.
