The Denton boarders enjoyed their annual bonfire and fireworks party this week. The first job was to explain to our new overseas boarders the significance of the events that took place on 5 November 1605, and the failed assassination attempt on King James I. Then the life-size Guy Fawkes was made and duly carried to the Grammar School playing fields at Quorn and placed on top of the bonfire. After the fire and fireworks display marshmallows were toasted on the embers of the fire, then everyone returned to Denton House for hot dogs, gingerbread men and toffee apples. Overall an enjoyable cultural and gastronomic experience for the boys!
