‘Codebreaking Day’ 02.12.16

James Grime visited LGS on Thursday 24th November to run a ‘Codebreaking day’ with Year 8. This started with a fascinating talk to the whole year group, providing valuable insight into how the art of sending secret messages has evolved over the last few centuries. The highlight of the presentation was a rare chance to glimpse an enigma machine in action and learn a little more about the encryption and decryption processes involved during the Second World War. James spent the rest of the day running workshops for small groups of Year 8 boys where they were given the opportunity to put their knowledge and skills to the test in their attempt at cracking codes.
