On Monday 24th June, facing one of their most difficult challenges of the season, the 1st XI secured a very creditable draw against a strong MCC team. On a batsman-friendly pitch, despite some accurate bowling, the visitors posted a very daunting 270 for 5 wickets leaving LGS some 43 overs to reach their target. It was never going to be easy, but a steady start by Danny Murty and Eben Kurtz almost saw the home side to tea intact, but Eben was out skying a short ball to mid-on just before the interval. Tight bowling and agile fielding made scoring at the rate required increasingly difficult and at stumps LGS had reached 161 for 7.
The result may have been a little disappointing, but our esteemed opponents have only beaten us once in the last seven years.
