Mr Roger Perrett, Chair of the OLA, presented the Year 12 Scholars with their awards at Assembly on Friday 3rd February.
Seventy-four of our Senior Scholars sat down to dinner on the evening of Thursday 2nd February to celebrate their achievement and be entertained by an address from the school archivist and former member of staff, Mr Roger Willson, in which he referred to scholars through the ages and the tradition of scholarship to which our modern award-holders belonged.
Those assembled were recipients of Scholarships awarded on the basis of performance in Entrance Examinations and the Year 12 and Year 13 OLA Scholars. OLA Scholarships are awarded to Year 12s who have not previously held awards but who have achieved outstanding results at GCSE (at least 8 A* grades) or, for Year 13, been offered places at Oxford or Cambridge Colleges while not having been recipients of scholarships beforehand. The dinner was generously sponsored by the Parents’ Association and Latham & Company Solicitors and was presided over by the Acting Headmaster, Mr John Weitzel. Ms Carolyn Hull, Mr Christopher Bell and Mrs Kirsten Wood of Lathams were our guests, as were Mr Roger Perrett, Chair of the OLA, and Mrs Yvonne Tennant, Chair of the Parents’ Association.
